Immediately After an Accident

  1. Check for injuries and get help immediately if necessary.
  2. Call the police from the scene, if possible, to file a report. File a report even if the damage is minor.
  3. Write down names, addresses and phone numbers of everyone involved in the accident.
  4. Write down a description of all vehicles including the vehicle license plates.
  5. If witnesses are present, get their names and phone numbers. They may help prevent a disagreement as to how the accident occurred.
  6. Report the claim to us by calling our 24-hour Insurance Company at 1-800-555-1234.
Step by Step Auto Claims Process
Call our 24-hour Insurance Company as soon as possible at 1-800-555-1234.
Typically, a claims expert contacts you by noon the next business day, and often the same business day you report the claim.
We explain our claims procedure during that first contact. We also explain the insurance coverage you have and answer your questions about the claim.
If you or others are injured in the accident, our claims expert advises you on submitting medical claims.
Usually, within 3 days, and often within 24 to 48 hours, we inspect your vehicle and write an estimate for repairs. When possible, payment is issued at the time of inspection. Your vehicle is repaired at the shop of your choice. The repair shop contacts us if there are questions about our estimate.

Emergency Road Service
If you have our emergency road service coverage and you have car trouble anytime or anywhere in the 50 states or Canada -- help is just a phone call away. Call the Insurance Company at 1-800-555-1234. We will pay up to $100 for towing, labor at the vehicle break down site, or delivery of fuel/parts.

Claims Involving Injuries
Claims for injuries to you or your passengers
If you were injured in an accident and your policy includes Medical Payments or Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage, your claims representative will advise you on submitting a medical claim.
Reimbursements for medical expenses are made to you or to the medical services provider. You may be asked to sign a medical authorization form or other medical forms so we can request additional medical information regarding your claim.

Claims involving injuries or property damage to others
If the accident resulted in bodily injury to another person, or property damage to that person’s vehicle or other property, your claims representative will investigate and handle the claim on your behalf. You may be asked to provide a statement describing what happened and assist in the investigation.
If someone representing the injured or damaged party contacts you, please refer them to your claims representative.


Glass Claims
We arrange to fix or repair broken glass on your vehicle if you are covered for glass claims. To report a vehicle glass claim, call the Insurance Company at 1-800-555-1234.


Chips
Many times a chipped windshield only needs repair, instead of replacement. Repairs save you time and money. Most auto glass repairers have mobile units. They come to your vehicle and repair the chip in minutes. Even if you go to their shop, often the repair can be done in minutes while you wait.
We can help you find a repair shop if you don’t have a preferred glass shop. And, when all you need is a repair as opposed to a replacement, we will waive your deductible and pay for the repair in full.
Cracks
If you have cracked or broken glass, it's important to get it replaced as soon as possible. Cracks have a tendency to get larger fast, making driving your vehicle more dangerous.
We have a network of glass shops that we can put you in contact with if you don’t have a preferred glass shop.
